Do You Have a Plan for Your Dash? //
I expect like most people you have some time or another taken a wander through a cemetery. You probably glanced at names and noted when they lived and died. Typically you would see something written like “ Fred Williams 1902-1981 RIP”. We notice the dates but guess what. God is much more concerned with the “dash” in the middle. You don’t live in the start and end dates. You only live in the dash.
What counts for God and your potential is what you do living in that dash now. We have no more time to get ready for it. We can’t say “hold the world while I get sorted”
You cannot bolt God onto your life as an accessory. He is your life. So the key is to give God your dash and make it count for him.
You are God’s best. This is your time. There is never going to be another time for you. You only have one dash.
We have to make a decision that our life counts and do something. We cannot shovel the work for God onto the next generation. God determined this time for your dash because He knew you have what it takes to go for it and fulfil your purpose in life.
Given that premise it is surprising how you come across so many who have never considered their future or developed a plan for their life to make it full and rich. I have discovered recently that some of the worst cases can be found among Christian Ministers. Many cannot think beyond the ministry or spiritual targets to be open to the notion that Jesus came to bring abundant life for it’s own sake (John 10:10) God is interested in the whole of our life, our hopes, our aspirations, our desires and our dreams.
Now developing a life plan is not about racing down to the nearest bookstore and buying a book on “101 things to do before you die”. The next door neighbour of my sister did that a couple of years ago and bought a brand new red Ferrari so he could tick off a box. It was a great car but he could hardly get it out of his drive it was slung so low to the ground and because they lived on a steep slope in the North rarely took it out especially in the winter. I am fairly certain he does not have it now.
No, it is all about working to develop a focused life and ministry. Have you ever considered that Jesus had a powerful life plan? What is more He would not be dissuaded from His focus. Neither the devil in the wilderness nor Peter rebuking Him could stop Him from His purpose in life. He fulfilled why He came to earth and you and I are the legacy.
So take a look at your present reality and align yourself to God’s thinking. It may be you have to go on a retreat to do so. I certainly did as part of a year long coaching plan. Set some priorities for your life in a number of areas such as “faith” and “health or “family” and “finances”.
It is also wise to develop a value system that you operate by in line with God’s kingdom principles for life. The whole process made a massive difference in my life and I am now coaching people through that system. I am sure it will make a change in their outlook on life and on their potential.
Philippians 2:12-13 tells us to work out our own salvation. The Message bible says” be energetic in your life of salvation....that energy is God’s energy, an energy deep within you, God himself willing and working at what will give Him the most pleasure.”
Will you use your energy wisely and plan for the best life in God? He has a destiny planned for you beyond anything you can imagine. Begin that journey of discovery today and kick start your life again.
